Ginger Medicinal Values And Benefits: Internal

Ginger relaxes the muscles surrounding the blood vessels, facilitating the flow of blood throughout the body. It’s an effective cleaning agent for the bowels, kidneys, and skin. Do not ingest the essential oil.

Detoxifying body scrub with ginger, orange, and soya bean oil:

ingredients: ginger and sweet orange essential oils, soya bean oil, sea salts mixed with honey

8 drops ginger essential oil
30 drops sweet orange essential oil
240g (1 cup) Celtic sea salts (medium grain)
125ml (1/2 cup) unrefined soya bean oil
20ml (1 tbsp) honey

In a big bowl, add the essential oils to the salts and mix well. Pour in the soya bean oil and honey and mix thoroughly. To store the scrub, pour into an airtight, sealed container. Jars with big mouths work well. Keep a big spoon in the jar for when you want to use it.

To use: In the shower. massage two to three tablespoons of the mix into congested areas of the body, especially around the buttocks and thighs.

The scrub will keep for up to three months.

Keep essential oils out of reach of children.

Always do a patch test to check for allergic reactions before applying preparations on your skin.

Ginger History

The plant is said to originate from India, China, and Java, but is also native to Africa and the West Indies. It is believed that Ginger was brought to Europe between the 10th and 15th centuries as both a condiment and spice. It has been used for medicinal purposes since ancient times; it is recorded specifically in both Sanskrit and Chinese texts. It is also mentioned in literature from the Greeks, Romans, and Arabians.
